There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with the action all coming on the level.  The flat fixtures are at Chepstow, Doncaster and Epsom, whilst there is an all-weather flat card from Chelmsford City.  It is day two of the St Leger meeting at Doncaster and they have a pair of Group 2 races on their card.  The May Hill is a mile contest for two year old fillies' and looks to be at the mercy of Inspiral, who is already favourite for next year's 1,000 Guineas and Oaks.  It may be a little early to be thinking in terms of next season's Classics when we haven't even had all of this season's yet, but if she is to justify that sort of hype, she will need to win convincingly today.

The other Group 2 on Doncaster's card is the 1m6f Park Hill.  Messrs Gosden and Dettori have the favourite once again, although it does also feature a familiar name for fans of the jumps.  Eileendover, who was one of last season's top bumper performers, takes her chance in the line-up.

Ranco was disappointing in the conditional jockeys' handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter yesterday afternoon having travelled nicely for much of the way under Fergus Gillard.  He has been a bit in and out over timber but had previously been in good form on the flat, winning at Windsor.  It may be worth giving him another try on the level in the short term?

Gary Bardwell was the winner of the Leger Legends race aboard Godolphin's Natural Colours in a tight finish at Doncaster yesterday.  'The Angry Ant', now 53 years old, reckoned it was right up there with the biggest successes of his career, which shows the prestige of the contest given it is only a 0-70 handicap.

Emma Raducanu's dream US Open tennis tournament carried on as she beat the number eleven seed to progress to the semi-finals.  The 18 year-old is set to become Britain's number one regardless of the result of the next round, although her success has come as a complete surprise to her.  She had flights booked back to Britain two weeks ago so has well and truly missed those, but it is obviously a nice problem to have.  She will play Maria Sakkari tomorrow for a place in the final tomorrow.

England's footballer's could only draw 1-1 with Poland last night in their World Cup qualifier after conceding a goal in the 92nd minute.  The result does little to affect England's prospects as Poland were second in the group.
