There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat fixtures from Sandown, Doncaster, Chester and Salisbury.  David has one runner today as Lady Reset (pictured above) contests the 1m2f handicap at Sandown at 4.05pm.  She has been in tremendous form this summer, producing a series of good efforts, whilst winning twice on the level and once over hurdles.  She again ran well at Salisbury last week and perhaps was a shade unlucky, being denied a clear run in the closing stages.  She is due to go up a pound in future handicaps, will enjoy the prevailing ground and looks to have solid each-way claims under Laura Pearson.

It is day three of the St Leger meeting from Doncaster today and the highlight is the Doncaster Cup at 2.40pm featuring great favourite Stradivarius, who is looking for a second success in the race.  He hasn't looked as good as he was this season, but still showed great tenacity to win at York last time in a thrilling finish.  It would be great if he can do it again.

The Gosden and Dettori team were in great form at the meeting yesterday, with three winners, including a big race double with fillies, Inspiral and Free Wind.  The former is favourite for the Guineas and Oaks next season, whilst the latter looks a Cup horse in the making for next term and judging by this performance, she would have made them pull out the stops in the Leger which takes place tomorrow.

She's only gone and done it again!  Emma Raducanu again defied the odds by winning her semi-final US Open match against number 17 seed Maria Sakkari.  The British teenager will now face world number 73 Leylah Fernandez in the final and would appear to have a realistic chance of success.  Obviously Fernandez has played exceptionally well to get there, but she is not exactly Serena Williams in her pomp.  Raducanu's rise has been meteoric - before reaching Wimbledon's last 16 (before having to withdraw) back in the summer, she was ranked 336 in the world.  Now she is on the brink of the top 30 and success in the final would surely elevate her even further.  She has certainly been a feel good story for British sport, let's hope she can finish the job off.

The final cricket test match between England and India gets underway at Old Trafford this morning.  England need to win to draw the series.  They trail 2-1 but could quite conceivably have been 3-0 ahead but for a couple of dramatic batting collapses.

The new American Football season got underway last night with reigning champions the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beating the Dallas Cowboys in a close game.  My beloved Vikings get their season underway on Sunday in a winnable game on the road to the Cincinnati Bengals, although judged on their pre-season form, I am in for another long season of woe!
