There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Haydock, Newmarket and York, an all-weather flat card from Newcastle and a jumps fixture from Worcester.  David has two runners this afternoon as Iron Heart and Oneonechop contest the conditional jockeys' handicap hurdle at Worcester at 5.07pm.  Iron Heart (pictured above) will be ridden by Fergus Gillard, who was aboard when scoring at Newbury last season.  He remains 3lbs higher than that mark but conditions should suit and he has each-way claims.  Our other runner is Oneonechop who will be the first mount for the stable for Philip Armson.  Oneonechop has some reasonable form in the book, including when runner-up from this mark at Newton Abbot on his penultimate start.  He was disappointing last time but if reproducing his best, he also has each-way chances in an open contest.

Newmarket hosts a very good card this afternoon that features no less than three Group races as well as a Listed contest.  Master Of The Seas runs in the Group 2 at 3.35pm, his first appearance after a setback following his excellent second in the 2,000 Guineas earlier in the season.  He will be very difficult to beat if anywhere near that form, especially in receipt of his age allowance.

Below you will find the latest instalment of our horses to follow series.  Today it is the turn of Julie Bellamy, who has been a part of the team at Pond House since the 1980's.  Julie talks to broadcaster Mike Vince about her upcoming participation in a Wincanton charity race next month as well as selecting a horse to follow for the season ahead.  Her selection may or may not come as much of a surprise.  Just click on the image (courtesy of Katie Macey) below to view...

It may not be my idea of fun, but I am sure there are going to be plenty of people glued to the golf this weekend as the Ryder Cup gets underway from Whistling Straits this afternoon.

Personally, I will be more interested in the rising tensions of the Formula 1 season as they move to Russia this weekend.  Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton seem to be warring through the press following their collision at Monza a fortnight ago.  Sochi, a power track, is expected to suit the Mercedes and Verstappen has a three place drop on the grid to contend with as a result of their previous accident.  Practice starts today.
