Weekend Jottings

There are just two meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Epsom and Ffos Las.  The pick of the action today is the 0-95 handicap at Ffos Las where the winner collects £7,700.  Not exactly ground breaking news, but if you compare the prize money on these shores with the class 5 race at Sha Tin today (contested by horses rated between 24 and 40), that is worth a shade under £42,000, well, you get my drift!

There are no runners from the Pond House team today, although we will be back with runners at Newton Abbot tomorrow so come back then to check the latest news.

There are a couple of Premiership football matches to look forward to this afternoon with Southampton taking on Wolves at 2pm.  Meanwhile, there is a London derby in the 4.30pm match with Arsenal hosting Tottenham Hotspur.  It is early days I know, but these two sides seem to be heading in opposite directions at present with Spurs losing their last two matches, whilst Arsenal are looking better after a horror start.

I will be enjoying the Russian Grand Prix (although it has the look of a Mercedes benefit), followed by the American Football.  My wife will be thrilled!  There are bragging rights at stake in the NFL - as you will no doubt be aware, I am an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and they host the Seattle Seahawks, who happen to be travelling head lad Bob Hodge's team of choice.  After blowing winning opportunities on the road in their first two matches, I am far from confident, but hope springs eternal!
