There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with a jumps fixture from Exeter, a flat card from Yarmouth and action on the all-weather from Newcastle and Kempton.  David has two runners today at Exeter; Oneonechop and Story Of Friends (pictured above).  Oneonechop contests the amateur riders' handicap hurdle at 1.30pm.  He has shown ability over hurdles, finishing in the frame on several occasions, although he needs to bounce back from a couple of disappointing efforts to figure.  The ground should suit, although he is yet to prove that he will stay 2m2½f on a stiff track.  Jo Supple is in the saddle.

Our other runner is Story Of Friends who contests the staying handicap hurdle at 2.05pm.  He ran a good second on his seasonal reappearance at Plumpton and is now 5lbs lower in the weights.  He won't mind the ground and he stays well, so has a chance on that basis, although there are only two places for each-way purposes.  Fergus Gillard is in the saddle and takes 3lbs off his back.

There was a dramatic Premiership football match last night as Arsenal managed to salvage a 2-2 draw at home to Crystal Palace.  Both sides will feel a little aggrieved this morning - Arsenal, as a bad challenge just before halftime from James McArthur made a bad challenge on Bukayo Saka that probably warranted more than a booking and Crystal Palace, who led until 5 minutes into stoppage time.

There is Champions League action tonight and British interest lies with Manchester City who travel to Bruges and Liverpool, who are away to Atletico Madrid.  It could be a tough night, especially for Liverpool, who were beaten twice beaten by Madrid last year.

The Buffalo Bills are off my Christmas card list after falling to the Tennessee Titans in the closing minutes of their NFL match last night.  I went to bed with Buffalo comfortably ahead and expecting the final leg of a sixfold to reap handsome profits, only to find they had capitulated in the final quarter.  They had previously looked to be the class of their conference, but after last night, it looks as though I need to rethink that!
