There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat fixtures from Newmarket and Goodwood, all-weather meetings from Wolverhampton and Newcastle and the jumps are back with the Hunter Chase meeting from Cheltenham.  Meanwhile, over in Ireland, it is day four of the Punchestown Festival and David has a runner as Adagio (pictured above) takes on the mighty Honeysuckle in the Paddy Power Champion Hurdle at 5.25pm.

Adagio made the trip over to Ireland earlier in the week and has settled in well ahead of this afternoon's race.  Of course, he has a mountain to climb to overcome reigning champion Honeysuckle, but one or two of Henry de Bromhead's have disappointed this week, so we will giving it our best shot.  He was not able to show his best at Cheltenham when a juddering error three out cost him any chance, so hopefully, with a clear round of jumping today he will be in the mix and pick up some nice prize money under Tom Scudamore.

The Guineas meeting gets underway at Newmarket this afternoon and Godolphin looks to be the team to beat today with three favourites on the card and a couple of other fancied ones.  They will be hoping to get a good start to the meeting today, especially as they have the first two in the betting for the 2,000 Guineas tomorrow.

Manchester United will be pleased to have earned a point last night as they drew 1-1 at home to Chelsea.  The visitors were by much the better side, especially during the first half and United have the efforts of their goalkeeper to thank for the result.

Judd Trump dominated the first session of his semi-final snooker match against Mark Williams yesterday, opening up a 7-1 lead overnight.  The other match is looking much tighter with Ronnie O'Sullivan and John Higgins all square at 4-4, although O'Sullivan was looking the stronger of the pair as the match progressed yesterday.

I told my son that I saw a deer on the way to work this morning.  He said to me, "How do you know he was going to work?"
