We had a good day at the yard yesterday as David had a Garden Party with some owners and friends in attendance. I watched quite a lot of the West Ham match with another East End boy David Johnson. It was not the best result however with the Hammers getting beaten 1-0 by Cardiff! The horses were all looking big and well and David is looking forward to getting them fit and ready to run. Grands Crus is the most laid back horse you have ever seen. Even with lots of people around the yard he was still asleep in his stable and as I was showing him to one of our guests he even decided to have a little lie down! I am sure he even closed his eyes! Mind you Conor O'Farrell was telling me this is how he always is but he's completely different when you get him on the gallops! He comes alive and is pretty keen. I'm just glad my riding days are over!

There is a good picture of Tom Scu and David in todays Racing Post with Grands Crus. It looks like Tom will need to grow into that shirt he is wearing, or wife Lottie will have to wash it!
One of our owners, Sean Tracey is celebrating his 44th Birthday today. I bet there will be some party up in Scotland! It is also Lord Donoughmore's 84th birthday and he has had many horses at Pond House over the years. I just wanted to wish them both a very Happy Birthday!
I come from the East end of London and this rioting and looting over the weekend really makes me feel ashamed. I feel really sorry for all the normal people who live in those areas. I can remember people leaving their front doors unlocked and there was no danger of being burgaled. What is the world coming to. What really worries me is the Olympics are not being held too far away from where all this has been happening. I wonder how many of the rioters actually live in the area. I can remember going down places such as Pettycoat Lane, Brick Road and having jellied eels at Tubby Isacc's near Algate Station. That is the East End of London that I want to remember and I always felt safe. I am not sure that I would want to live there anymore.
