The stable enjoyed a nice winner at Newton Abbot yesterday when Romain de Senam was victorious in the 3m2f handicap chase and thus getting us off the mark for the new campaign.  It didn't always look easy, but this was coming hot on the heels of a good effort when runner-up at Uttoxeter on Saturday, so this was a very commendable effort under David Noonan.  He handles a sound surface well and could be winning again whilst in such fine form.  Ben Lilly was our other runner yesterday, finishing third in the maiden hurdle at Fontwell.  He will be winning races sooner rather than later based on this evidence.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Worcester and Huntingdon, a flat fixture from Chester and all-weather action from Chelmsford City.  David has four runners today at Worcester; Paricolor, Ladykiller, Dell' Arca and Nabvutika.

Paricolor contests the 2m7f novices' handicap chase at 2.23pm.  He ran creditably when a close third at Hexham at the weekend and should run his usual honest race.  It is win only for betting purposes but he has claims under Philip Armson.

Ladykiller runs in the 2m4f novices' handicap hurdle at 3.03pm.  He ran a peculiar race at Newton Abbot last time, appearing to hold no chance before staying on strongly in the closing stages.  He looks sure to benefit from this longer trip and has an each-way chance under Tom Scudamore.

Popular veteran, Dell' Arca contests the 2m7f handicap hurdle at 4.05pm.  He ran well when runner-up at Newton Abbot last time out and should be competitive again from the same mark, although there are plenty of potential improvers in the line-up.  Tom Scudamore takes the ride.

Our final runner is Nabvutika, who runs in the 2m conditional jockeys' handicap hurdle at 4.40pm.  She showed signs of ability on the flat, but she will be a big price and would need to improve on what she has shown so far to figure on her handicap debut.  Philip Armson is in the saddle.

Changingoftheguard was an impressive winner of the Chester Vase yesterday for Aidan O'Brien, easily beating the highly-touted favourite New London to put himself firmly in the reckoning for next month's Derby.  O'Brien typically has a strong hand at Epsom, with Guineas third Luxembourg already a short-priced favourite.

Manchester City suffered a spectacular collapse last night to be dumped out of the Champions League by Real Madrid.  City were a goal ahead on the night (two in total following the first leg) and seemingly in control when Real Madrid scored in the 90th minute, then again in the first minute of stoppage time and finally in the 95th minute to win 6-5 on aggregate.  Real Madrid will now face Liverpool in the Champions League final, whilst City have one last chance at some silverware - the Premier League.  They sit one point ahead of Liverpool with four games left to play.  It will be interesting to see how they bounce back from this.

A woman came up to me the other day and told me that she recognised me from a vegetarian restaurant.
I was a little confused...I'd never met herbivore.
