Olympe De Gouges runs at Market Rasen Today

Today we have two runners at Market Rasen, Olympe De Gouges and Defi D'oudairies.  Olympe De Gouges runs in in the 1.35pm mares handicap hurdle over two miles with David Noonan in the saddle.  She won over hurdles at Doncaster in March and we tried to run her quickly after that up at Musselburgh but she disappointed in a much better race.  We have given her a nice break since then and she is on good form at home.  She drops down markedly in grade with the addition of cheek pieces this afternoon and we will be disappointed if she cannot be involved in the finish.  She runs in the colours of the Value Racing Club.

Defi D'oudairies runs in the Summer Plate Trial handicap chase over 2m5f at 3.20pm with Philip Armson on board.  Our nine year old is making his stable debut after we claimed him from France after he won at Compiegne last month.  He has form over this trip on this ground in France and he a winner of 13 races in his career in all disciplines so he definitely knows how to win!  He has come over and settled in well and has pleased us at home.  I note the Racing Post comment that we claimed him specifically for the Summer Plate race - it is nice to know they know our thoughts!!  When Defi won at Compiegne last month he beat Texard into second place.  We likes the form of the race and claimed the first two home!  Texard ran well at Aintree last week on his first run for the stable and perhaps would have won without a last fence blunder so fingers crossed we can run as well this afternoon.  It looks a fairly competitive race but the Racing Post have him his favourite and hopefully he can justify this.

In yesterday's action, Dindin ran below par in his race with no real obvious excuses.  Miss M travelled well in her race but struggles in the latter stages while it was much better effort from Itacare to finish third.  He jumped and travelled much better than at Market Rasen last time and he galloped all the way to the line.  He was not beaten far and a repeat of this run should hopefully see him winning of his current handicap mark.  Heure De Gloire was a bit too keen for her own good but ran okay to finish fourth.  Ladykiller did not run in the end but we have entered up next week at Worcester so he should hopefully be on the track then.

While Frankie Dettori appears not to be having the best week for one reason or another we move on to day four of the Royal Meeting.  The Coronation Stakes at 4.20pm in the feature and maybe Frankie can get his week back on track by winning this on favourite Inspiral for the John and Thady Gosden team.  There are plenty of runners in the fiercely competitive races and there will be another large crowd enjoying the warm temperatures and hot racing action today!

Market Rasen is the only jumps card of the day but there is plenty of supporting flat action to the Royal Meeting.  Redcar, Ayr, Newmarket and Goodwood all race today while in Ireland they race on the flat at Down Royal and Limerick.

In other sport, I am off to watch Somerset play Gloucestershire in the Vitality Blast this evening while there is also the US Open Golf to watch if that is your thing also!  Have a good day everyone, stay hydrated and enjoy the sunshine!
