It was another winning weekend for the stable when Texard (pictured above) produced a gutsy performance to land the 2m handicap chase at Uttoxeter yesterday afternoon under Tom Scudamore.  Given a well-judge front-running ride, he jumped really well and kept on tenaciously once challenged in the straight to record a length success.  He is declared to run again at Stratford tomorrow evening where he will be able to compete under a penalty.  Romain de Senam was far from disgraced in the valuable Summer Cup, finishing sixth after cutting out most of the running.  Bashful Boy was below his best in the 2m1f handicap hurdle at Cartmel, but did suffer from a bit buffeting during a rough race and is better than this.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with a jumps card from Southwell and flat fixtures from Pontefract, Windsor and Musselburgh.  David has four runners today (Dindin is a non-runner in the opener) with Abaya du Mathan, Defi d'Oudairies, Do Ya Feel Lucky and Ben Lilly on duty.

Abaya du Mathan and Defi d'Oudairies both contest the 3m½f handicap chase at 1.30pm.  Defi d'Oudairies has been in good form, winning four times in France this year, including when giving weight and a beating to Texard on his penultimate start.  He does have to bounce back from a slightly disappointing effort last time, but he is a couple of pounds lower in the weights and this longer trip could help.  Philip Armson takes 5lbs off his back.  Meanwhile, Abaya du Mathan produced a good effort when runner-up at Aintree last time behind a progressive type and is now 1lb lower.  This sharp track should suit and he has each-way claims under Tom Scudamore.

Do Ya Feel Lucky contests the 3m½f handicap hurdle at 3.30pm.  She was a good winner last time out at Worcester and is 2lbs ahead of her mark under a 7lbs penalty.  We know she gets this trip and a reproduction of her last performance would give her strong claims here.  Tom Scudamore is in the saddle and she must go well.

Our final runner is Ben Lilly who contests the 3m½f novices' handicap hurdle at 4.00pm for the David Pipe Racing Club.  He has been running creditably of late, finishing runner-up on his last two starts.  He has to contend with topweight but looks to have decent claims with Philip Armson taking 5lbs off his back.

Well, I called the Northumberland Plate wrong on Saturday!  What a performance from Trueshan to concede lumps of weight to all of his rivals in the marathon handicap at Newcastle under Hollie Doyle.  I hope I redeemed myself when I did plump for the right one in the Irish Derby at the Curragh...Westover produced a deeply impressive performance when a 7 length winner of the 1m4f Classic, although his task was made easier by the below-par performance of Tuesday.

Wimbledon gets underway today, so you can be sure it is going to rain!  There is a bumper line-up on centre court today with defending champion Novak Djokovic getting proceedings underway.  The darling of the Brits, Emma Raducanu follows him  on before it is the turn of Andy Murray.

It is the final day of the final test between England and New Zealand and England are in a good position to make it a clean sweep of the series as they need just 113 runs with 8 wickets in hand.

Someone complimented my parking yesterday! They left a sweet note on my windscreen that said “parking fine.”
