There are just two meetings taking place on these shores this afternoon with a jumps card from Market Rasen and a flat fixture from Chester.  David has one runner today; Dindin, who contests the 2m3f handicap chase at Market Rasen at 2.10pm.  He has been in good form of late, falling at the last with the race at his mercy at Newton Abbot on his penultimate start and was beaten only a neck there last time out.  He certainly deserves a change of luck and has a decent chance with Philip Armson taking 5lbs off his back, although the favourite does look difficult to beat.

After this afternoon there will be a break of nearly two weeks, with the next jumps card taking place at Market Rasen on Saturday 13th August...what are we going to do?!

I guess, in the short-term, there is plenty of sporting action to keep us entertained.  There is the small matter of the Women's European Cup Championships taking place at Wembley this afternoon, with England's Lionesses taking on Germany at 4pm.  Coverage is on BBC from 4pm so let's hope the ladies can bring it home!

Much as I would love to see England win the football, my personal preference is for the motor racing, so I will be watching the Hungarian Grand Prix instead.

England's cricketers play South Africa in the deciding T20 match at Southampton and that should be an exciting game with both teams recording a decisive victory to leave the series tied 1-1 going into today.

Finally, the Commonwealth Games also continues with day three offering 24 medal.  There is gymnastics action, swimming, cycling and weight lifting among the events on offer.  Something for (almost!) everyone today...
