There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with flat fixtures from Leicester, Windsor and Haydock.  The pick of the action comes from Haydock, where they are offering good ground for their Sunday Series card.  It has drawn competitive fields and better still, the terrestrial television cameras will be there with ITV 4 covering the meeting.  Credit where it is due, ITV continue to make a tremendous investment in the sport and hopefully they will be rewarded with the viewing figures they deserve.

We are now a week into our summer sabbatical, but there is light at the end of the tunnel with entries for Saturday's jumps meetings from Market Rasen and Perth closing tomorrow morning.  We will bring you more news of those after the entry stage.

It is the penultimate day of competitive action at the Commonwealth Games today and there are loads of finals to look forward to in the athletics.  With 46 gold medals up for grabs across all the sporting events, there should be some thrilling action in store.  Aside from the athletics, there are 16 boxing medals to be decided, whilst the women's hockey final also takes place.

The first weekend of the Premiership is completed this afternoon with Leicester taking on Brentford, Manchester United hosting Brighton and West Ham playing Manchester City.  Reigning champions, City only drew with the Hammers towards the end of last season, but have not lost to them in their last 13 matches and it would be something of a surprise if that run came to an end here.
