There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with a flat fixture from Pontefract and all-weather action from Chelmsford City and Southwell.  Unsurprisingly, there are no runners from the Pond House team today.  The pick of the action today looks to be at Pontefract and despite small fields, the 6f Listed contest at 3.00pm has drawn a competitive nine runner field.

I will be siding with Chil Chil, who was far from disgraced in the cavalry charge that is the Stewards' Cup at Goodwood last time.  She had previously been contesting Group 1 races and this represents a significant drop in class compared to some of those.  Pontefract is a funny track and Ben Curtis rides it as well as anyone, so she has plenty in her favour.

It was great to be back with jumps action from Market Rasen and Perth yesterday and there will be plenty more meetings for the week ahead, with the stable's first runners likely to come at Worcester on Wednesday, so keep your eyes peeled for those.

There are a couple of Premiership football matches taking place this afternoon, but the local derby between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur looks comfortably the pick.  Both teams looked good in winning their opening matches and this should be a real thriller.  There are bragging rights at stake here too, with David a fan of Chelsea and Ashley Farrant a massive Spurs fan.  Someone could end up disappointed come Monday morning and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Tottenham get something out of this match.

How did the police finally catch the paint thief?  They caught him red-handed.

Why was Cinderella thrown off the football team?  She ran away from the ball.
