There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with a flat card from Hamilton and all-weather action from Kempton, Chelmsford City and Wolverhampton.  Thank goodness for the all-weather with all this rain around, that's what I say!  In all seriousness, we did actually get some of the wet stuff last night, with 7mm of rain falling at Pond House since yesterday morning, mind you, it is going to take significantly more to make much difference to the ground.  The Met Office weather warnings for thunder remain in place for the rest of today and tomorrow.

The pick of the action comes on the turf at Hamilton and their big race is the 1m1f 0-90 handicap and the first prize of almost £13,00 has attracted a respectable field of twelve.  Furthermore, seven of them were last time out winners, so it is very competitive, although the market is dominated by a couple of unexposed three year olds who receive handy weight allowance.

There are no runners from the Pond House team today, although we will be back with a vengeance tomorrow with seven runners at Worcester.  Come back then to find out more...

Liverpool came from a goal and a man down to salvage a point at Anfield last night as they drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace.  Their new summer signing, Darwin Nunez made the worst possible start on his home Premiership debut, being sent off for a headbutt in  moment of stupidity in the 57th minute.  Obviously, it is only early days, but Liverpool already have to spot Manchester City a four point start and if it comes down to another final day decider at the end of the season, this episode will be revisited over and over again.

Rangers are in action tonight as they take on PSV Eindhoven in the first leg of their Champions League qualifier at Ibrox at 8pm.

My other half wanted me to cook dinner last night, but it was a complete disaster.  The recipe said to 'set the the oven to 180 degrees' but then I couldn't open the door as it was facing the wall.
