                        ***UPDATE***
                         CADEAU D’OR
             N/R 4.30PM NEWTON ABBOT

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with a jumps card from Newton Abbot and flat fixtures from Chepstwo, Ripon, Epsom and Carlisle.  David has five runners today at Newton Abbot; Cadeau d'Or, El Paso Wood, Dindin, Lady Reset and d'Jango.  Cadeau d'Or runs in the 2m2½f maiden hurdle at 4.30pm.  A winner on the flat, he has already shown a good deal of promise over hurdles, including when a close third at the track under topweight in a handicap last time.  This looks easier and he has a good chance with Tom Scudamore aboard.

El Paso Wood and Dindin run in the 2m5f handicap chase.  The former was second over course and distance last time and should be thereabouts once again under Tom Scudamore, whilst Dindin has twice been unlucky not to win over course and distance from this mark.  Philip Armson takes 5lbs off his back and it would be no surprise to see him go well.

Lady Reset (pictured above) contests the 2m½f handicap hurdle at 5.40pm.  A multiple winner on the flat and over hurdles, she simply does not know how to run a bad race and put up another personal best effort when a close third in a decent race at Perth last time.  Should be right there once again.

Our final runner at the Devon track is d'Jango, who runs in the staying handicap chase at 7.10pm.  He has won over hurdles and fences this season and has an abundance of stamina, although he is 6lbs higher than that latest success.  He has the ability to be involved with a clear round.  Tom Scu rides.

I hope a few of you had Dutch Decoy each-way at Ripon yesterday.  He was a big drifter on the day, finishing third at 7/1, which was good news for those who backed him each-way.  It's not a big profit, but it is profit nonetheless!

There are four Premiership football matches taking place this evening and the most competitive could be Crystal Palace versus Brentford, who have both made decent starts to the new season.

Serena Williams managed to get her final appearance in the US Open off to a winning start when a gritty winner of her match against Danka Kovinic, who is ranked 80th in the world.  It will require an awful lot more from her to go deep into the tournament, but it is great that she was able to get a win on her swansong - they have been few and far between of late.  Andy Murray progressed to the second round of the men's event.  Meanwhile, Emma Raducanu gets her defence of her women's title underway tonight.
