We have had a bit of rain each day this week, but the temperatures remain incredibly mild for this time of year.  At 7am this morning the thermometer read 15°c which is amazing when you think that it's November next week.  Anyway, there are five meetings taking place this afternoon, with jumps cards from Ascot, Ayr and Wetherby, a flat fixture from Newmarket and all-weather action from Wolverhampton.  The pick of the action would appear to come from Wetherby, where they host the Bet365 Hurdle and Charlie Hall Chase, although with a couple of non-runners in the latter, course official will be praying for the forecast rain to arrive.  This will be the fourth clash between Ahoy Senor and Brvemansgame and it looks another fascinating encounter.

There are no runners from the Pond House team today, with our next possibles at Plumpton and Hereford on Monday.  We make declarations for those a little later this morning.

Tango Arumba finished fifth in the 2m4f novices' hurdle at Uttoxeter yesterday afternoon, travelling well for much of the way under Tom Scudamore before fading in the closing stages.  The winner of her Irish point-to-point and her only bumper start, she is a nice mare and can go on from this.

There is plenty of Premiership footballing action to look forward to today with eight matches taking place.  The pick could well be Brighton & Hove Albion versus Chelsea.  The home side continue to do well in the league and despite not having the strength in depth of their opponents, could get something from this match.

The Formula One circus arrives in Mexico this weekend and it looks like being a closely contested race if practice times are anything to go by.  Ferrari's Charles Leclerc suffered a heavy crash which ended his session, but it is incredible what the engineers can do these days and he should be fighting it out towards the front in today's qualifying session.

I bought a new Rolex the other day.  It was so expensive that I had to finance it.  I'm living on borrowed time.

Whilst we are talking time, on a note of seriousness...don't forget to put your clocks back by an hour tonight.  I forgot to do so many years ago and it is hard to explain the disappointment of turning up to work an hour early on a Sunday!
