      Thomas Mor Winner at Wincanton

Our winning week continued yesterday thanks to Thomas Mor putting in an emphatic display to win the novices hurdle at Wincanton by a country mile.  While the race fell apart a little he tracked the favourite who set a strong pace from the start and then Tom Scu moved him up to take on the leader half way down the back straight for the final time.  Once overtaking his rival he galloped on relentlessly to power clear before two from home and he came home eased down.  While I was a little worried the drop back in trip would be against him I thought he travelled far more strongly than he had done on stable debut and it was a much more polished performance.  It was definitely a step up from debut and it was a super win.  He will have to take a step up in class now but he deserves it as he looks an exciting prospect going forwards.

Thomas Mor was our 45th winner of the season and his win took our prize money for the season through the £500,000 mark.  The stable is going well and long may the good form continue!

Today we just have the one runner at Ascot, Jet Smart in the opening maiden hurdle on the card.  It looks a tough race with 12 runners from top stables in the line up and all have cost a little bit!  Our four year old is a striking chestnut who has finished second in his sole outing in and Irish point to point after which David bought him,  The winner and the horses that finished behind him that day have both been sold for a lot of money which we hopefully got a relative bargain being the meat in the sandwich so to speak!  It is hard to gauge the form however as the winner as yet to run under rules while the third was disappointing behind our very own Man At Work at Aintree.  We like our fella and while he is likely to want further in time, hopefully he can run well at each way odds of 11/1.

Alongside a good card at Ascot today, there are two other jumps meetings at Catterick and Chepstow.  All of our jockeys are in action at Chepstow with Fergus Gillard, Philip Armson and David Noonan all in action at the Welsh track.  Fergus Gillard had a nice winner at Wincanton yesterday for his father Mark and it is nice to have our equine and human teams in good form!  There is flat racing on the all-weather at Kempton and in Ireland at Dundalk this evening.

As I mentioned yesterday. our new horses from France have arrived.  Leanne went and took some photos for me and have a look at the gorgeous head shot of Activist below.  He is a three year old gelding by Iffraaj who has won one race and been placed four times from just five starts on the flat in France over 1m4f.  He is a lovely athletic horse who is an exciting juvenile hurdling prospect   Coincidently his trainer in France, Thomas Demeaulte, used to train the mighty Dynaste before we had him and look what he went on to do!  Activist is for sale for 41,000 Euros.  For more information please do get in touch with the office 01884 840715 email: This email address is being protected from spambots.
