    Borntobealeader runs at Exeter today

Today there are two jumps meetings at Exeter and Uttoxeter and the stable has three runners at our local Devon track.  Borntobealeader runs in the opening race on the card, a juvenile hurdle at 12.40pm.  He was the nice winner at Ludlow last time out with Fergus Gillard on board and he keeps the ride this afternoon.  He carries a 7lb penalty for that success but he looks to have a great chance of a follow up success.  The hood and patient tactics last time seemed to do the trick and it was a nice performance, a repeat of that should she him win or go very close.  There are five runners in total and while the new comer trained by Milton Harris does have a similar rating to us on the flat we hope to put our hurdling experience to good use.

Neon Moon runs in the novices handicap chase over 2m3f with Tom Scu on board at 2.25pm.  He was fifth on his seasonal reappearance over further at the course last time when he just got tired and finished fifth.  The drop back in trip won’t inconvenience him and he again looks at have a good chance at about 15/2 in the Racing Post.

Our third and final runner of the day is Martinhal in the 2m2f handicap hurdle at 3.35pm.  Tom Scu rides and he is returning from an absence of 339 days.  He only had the two runs last season in which he was never really right but he is a course and distance winner from the season before.  He is a horse we have always really liked and he seems in good form at home at the moment.  He has had wind surgery during his break and he looks to have an each way chance at about 9/1.

I see that ITV4 are covering some of the races from Exeter today which is fantastic and includes both Neon Moon and Martinhal’s races.

Yesterday David and Leanne travelled to Ascot by kind invitation of Her Majesty the Queen Consort.  They had lunch in the Royal Box with Camilla and Leanne managed to get her curtseying right after much practice!  We are proudly associated with the Ebony Horse Club and have Little Red Lion running in their colours this season (last season Grangeclare Glory won for them).  The Ebony Horse Club works closely with disadvantaged young people living in South London.  Her Majesty the Queen Consort is the President of the Club.   David and Leanne had a very enjoyable afternoon and it is great to raise awareness of the charity and all the good work that they do.

Why was the broom late for the meeting?  It overswept!  Have a good Sunday.
