Heure De Gloire runs at Leicester Today

Today there are two jumps meeting at Carlisle and Leicester and the stable has two runners at the latter meeting.  Al Roc runs in the veterans chase at 3.10pm with Philip Armson on board.  This is a much more suitable race for him with and even though he is the outside of the four runner field I would not be surprised to see him run okay.  He will love the quicker ground and a return to 2m4f.  He has run quite a lot of times but he really does not do much at home - he has a morning swim and then spends the rest of the day in the field, he loves his daily routine and is a very happy horse.  Heure De Gloire runs in the final race of the card at 3.40pm, a mares handicap hurdle over 2m4f.  She is having her first run back after a break and I can see her running well.  Philip Armson rides and I see the Racing Post have her at 9/4 joint favourite.

I did mention earlier in the week that we claimed the winner of the 3yo chase at Auteuil, Man Again.  He won that race as he liked and this took his career record to four wins from eight starts over jumps, three over fences and one over hurdles.  It is great he has been bought by an existing owner and he will be arriving in the yard early next week.  He is a novice under both codes and has a likely handicap mark in the 120s so there are plenty of options for him going forwards.  While he can't go chasing over here until next summer (when 4 year olds are allowed to run over fences) he is one to look forward to getting a big four year old allowance against his elders and should give us all a lot of fun.

It will be a quiet start to the week for the stable on the runners front with no runner on Monday and Tuesday but we do have some from Wednesday onwards so keep chacking back here for more news.

The big game of the World Cup today is Germany against Spain at 7pm. After losing their opening match, the Germans need to get something from the game but it will not be easy against a very good Spanish team.

Sometimes I wake up grumpy.  But other times I let him sleep in!  Happy Sunday.
