Red Happy runs at Ludlow Today

It is great that we finally have some jumping action back to look forward to in Britain today with racing at Ludlow and Plumpton.  The stable has one runner, Red Happy in the 1.15pm handicap chase over three miles at Ludlow.  Our five year old has been a terrific buy from France and returns to calmer waters today after running in some tough races in his last few outings.  He did however run a great race the Coral Gold Cup at Newbury to be eighth on his penultimate start and things will be more to his liking this afternoon.  Tom Scu is back on board and the last time they teamed up they won a chase at Exeter.  He has had one run at the track before when he finished second and although one of the outsiders in the betting for this race I would like to think he has a small each way chance.

Alongside the two jumps fixtures today there are also two all-weather meetings at Southwell and Newcastle.  In Ireland they have jumps action at Naas.

I read about an interesting idea for accommodation for the Cheltenham Festival yesterday, so if you are not yet sorted for March, keep reading!  A fan village is going to be set up for about 300 racegoers offering cheaper accommodation than might be found elsewhere at Cheltenham during this time.  The village will be the first of its kind for racing and offers units, that look like shipping containers at a cost of £950 for a minimum of five nights.  The temporary facility will be set up at the rugby club not far from the racecourse and the Clubhouse will be providing food and drinks for the guests.  Such units have been used at music festivals and although this is a racing first, it is thought that if it goes well then it might be rolled out to others racecourses such as Aintree and Epsom in the future.  If you want to see some pictures of what the units look like and find out more please click on the link below:

I see the Argentinian footballers returned home to a heroes welcome in Buenos Aires yesterday and a National holiday of celebration as been declared in the country.  I enjoyed watching the World Cup Final on Sunday and thought the two teams put on a brilliant show.  I have to admit that just after half time when Argentina were 2-0 up the game was a little dull for a time but when France got a goal back it sparked into life and you couldn't take your eyes off it.  You never like to lose on penalties but I think Argentina just edged the match and even though I am a Cristiano Ronaldo fan, Messi perhaps edges it as the greatest of all time for me, he is magical!
