     Micronormous runs at Fontwell Today

Today we have the one runner, Micronormous and she runs in at Fontwell this evening with Jack Tudor on board.  She runs in the 7.05pm mares novices handicap hurdle over 2m5f.  She won a bumper at Exeter impressively on stable debut but things have not quite gone to plan over hurdles since.  She had her first run since a wind op at Ffos Las last time but did not handle the soft conditions.  She will appreciate the much better ground today and we are hopeful of a bold show.  She races off a mark of 105 which looks fair and in this race she looks to have a great chance.

Yesterday at Worcester both our runners, Last Quarter and Call Her Clever finished fourth.  Last Quarter jumped well and travelled sweetly and things looked promising as he rouded the last bend in third but when asked for his effort he did not find as much as we had hoped.  He did keep going however to a point as he looked like he could be over taken for fourth approaching the last fences but seemed to close in on the horses in front of him as they crossed the line.  It wasn't a bad run by any means but he is probably capable of better.  I thought Call Her Clever ran a nice race on her racecourse debut to be fourth.  She ran a little green at times during the race but kept finding more when Jack Tudor asked her.  She kept galloping all the way to the line and was not beaten that far so it was a promising start to her career which hopefully she can build on next time.

As well as jumps racing at Fontwell tonight there is earlier jumps action in the day at Perth.  On the flat we have Day 2 of York's Dante meeting and they race on the flat at Salisbury and Newmarket as well.  In Ireland they have jumps action at Tipperary.  The Dante stakes is the feature at York at 3.35pm and Frankie Dettori rides the favourite, Epictetus for John and Thady Gosden.  I don't think I will look any further through the runners than this one the way Frankie is just mopping up the feature races in recent times!  In his farewell tour of riding it seems like the stars are aligned for him to take home all the prizes.  He won the Musidora stakes yesterday for the same stable aboard Soul Sister at 18/1.  She didn't just win, she bolted up, quite a remarkable come back from her previous race where she finished last of twelve in the Darling stakes at Newbury!  It was an impressive performance from the three year old.

Last night Manchester City beat Real Madrid 4-0 in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final and therefore win 5-1 on aggregate.  It was a great game and City were phenomenal.  They will now face Inter Milan in the final in Istanbul.  Premier League football action returns this evening as Newcastle face an in form Brighton at home.  I am looking forward to watching some golf as the US PGA Championship gets underway at Oak Hill Country Club, New York.  99 out of the current top 100 players in the World right now are taking part with 156 players in total trying to win the prize.  American Justin Thomas is the defending Champion but Scottie Scheffler and John Rahm come into the week having the best recent form.

There was a Roman emperor who never aged after he turned 19.  His name was Constant Teen.  Have a good day.
