It is a busy day for racing today but there are no runners from Pond House.  There are four flat meetings at Newbury, Newmarket, Thirsk and Doncaster an two jumps meetings at Bangor and Uttoxeter.  In Ireland they have jumps racing at Wexford.  Unfortunately at Newbury yesterday Talap did not repeat his Windsor run and finished midfield in his race.  Although the ground was much quicker, jockey Tom Queally felt that was not and excuse, he just never really got involved at the business end of the race.  It was competitive, but I thought he should have finished closer than he did.  He was not perhaps at his best yesterday but has come out of the race full of beans!  He does have an entry at Windsor on Monday so we may look at that but if not then he is likely to be next seen out over hurdles.

There is good racing at Newbury this afternoon throughout but the feature race is the Lockinge, a Group 1 over a mile at 3.35pm.  Modern Games just shades favouritism for the Goldolphin team but will Frankie steal the show once again?  He rides Laurel for John and Thady Gosden and is second the betting.  She is highly promising filly and with the Frankie factor added in I think she could be the one.

Bangor today is an afternoon fixture over jumps and Fergus Gillard heads here for one ride.  He rides Oneway Express in the maiden hurdle but at 80/1 he would be a surprise winner by the looks of it.  Having said that if you saw the prices of some of the winners at Newbury yesterday then you know anything is possible! There was only one winning favourite and some of the prices of the other winners were 150/1, 16/1, 25/1, 12/1 and 33/1!  Well done if you found any of these! The jumps meeting at Uttoxeter is an evening fixture which gets underway at 5.35pm.  Jack Tudor is in action here and has one ride, Cap Du Nord for Christian Williams.  He runs in the 6.35pm handicap chase and looks to have a good chance at 11/2.

There are six Premier League matches being played today with the early kick off at 12.30pm being Tottenham against Brentford.  Manchester United are away at Bournemouth while the 5.30pm kick off is Nottingham Forrest at home to Arsenal.  It is a big weekend for the Premiership relegation battle which Southampton already down, all attention now falls to the other teams and it will be a tense weekend for supporters of Nottingham Forest, Everton, Leeds, and Leicester.

It looks tough going for the players in the USPGA Golf at Oak Hill Country Club, while I haven't had chance to watch much there are a lot of top players struggling.  Heading into the weekend there is a three way tie at the top of the leader board between  Viktor Hovland, Corey Conners and Scottie Scheffler at -5.  Rory McIlroy is not too far off the pace at level par while John Rahm had to really battle to make the cut at 4+.  Jordan Spieth and last years defending champion Justin Thomas only just made it through at 5+.  It promises to be a fascinating weekend of action.

How do you get 100 maths teachers into a room in which only fits 99?  You carry the one!  Have a great Saturday!
