There are no runners for the stable today but hopefully there is one jumps fixture at Hereford this afternoon. They were due to race at Fontwell with their feature National Spirit hurdle race but unfortunately that was abandoned a couple of days ago due to waterlogging. The is no flat racing in Britain today and in Ireland they have a jumps card at Naas. Their feature race is the Grade 3 Newlands Chase at 2.55pm which features the return of Ferny Hollow who is returning from a 791 day absence but is a short priced favourite to make a winning return.
There is point to point action at Larkhill today which has thankfully predicted no weather problems. There are plenty of entries and we actually have a runner! Castle Daragh runs in the restricted race and will give young Lukke Morris just his second ride in a point to point. Our seven year old is reappearing after winning an Irish point to point, but that was in October 2022 and he unfortunately had a leg injury which is while he has been off. We have two young lads in the yard that are keen to ride, but it is very hard for any young person to get going without some help and so David has this horse and another one for them to have some rides on this season. Lukke will be sharing riding duties with Conal Kavanagh. Lukke has had one ride last season and finished second while Conal is yet to have a ride. Both the horse and the jockey may need the run today, but hopefully they have a nice spin round with no pressure and see how they get on, as long as they both come back in one piece that is the main thing! Martin McIntyre has a few rides and looks set for a busy day so I will let you know how they all get on tomorrow.
There are just two top flight football matches today with a Premiership clash between Wolves and Sheffield United at 1.30pm followed by the EFL Cup final at Wembley between Chelsea and Liverpool at 3.00pm. I think Liverpool are the most likely winners and it could be their first trophy in the quest for four they are chasing this season.
There is the final Six Nations rugby game of the weekend this afternoon and France are at home to Italy at 3.00pm. It will be very tough for the Italians and I think it will be an easy win for France.
The England cricketers haven’t made a bad start in the latest Test cricket match against India. The batted first and made 353 runs while they also took a few wickets as India batted for their first innings. Hopefully they can capitalise on the good start on day 3 today.
I wrote a book on how not to fall down the stairs.
It’s a step by step guide!
Have a fab Sunday!
