There are two jumps meetings today at Plumpton and Southwell, but the stable does not have any runners. We did have entries, but with the weather continue to be wet. We decided these horses were preferred to wait for another day. there is a flat meeting on the all-weather at Wolverhampton while in Ireland, they have jumps racing at Leopardstown.

Over the weekend, Ocean Heights didn’t run to his usual level of form at Kempton for no obvious reason. He travelled towards the head of affairs, but did not really keep going when asked. This was a very rare below part effort from him, but he seems completely fine after the race, and we know he is better than this.

Chauffeur driven was also disappointing in his race at Huntingdon on Sunday, he was stepping up in trip by quite a distance, but he was beaten from an early stage on his handicap debut and this disappointing effort was not due to the trip. He looked laboured from an early stage, and was perhaps not in love with the ground conditions, he is also definitely better than this run.

First Lord De Cuet was a non-runner at Doncaster yesterday. Plenty of rain fell at the track during their Saturday card, and David decided to make him a non-runner with the ground worsening and being described by the jockeys as very holding and hard work so I think it was a wise decision not to travel.

Point to pointing did go ahead at Charlton Horethorne yesterday, but there is no local winners to report.

Harry Cobden has opened up a little gap in the jockeys title race and was 11 winners clear of Sean Bowen before racing yesterday. Well, Harry will have several nice mounts at Cheltenham next week, Sean Bowen has hinted he may well be riding at other meetings, while the festival is on. Sean has never ridden a festival winner and it looks even harder for many jockeys this year with the Irish likely to be so dominant. Cobden is best price one to 5 to win the title. Whereas Sean Bowen has now been pushed out to 4 to one. In a way I do hope he manages to close the gap a little bit as it is great for racing, but these two young fine jockeys are doing battle to be top of their sport.

I watched the Manchester Derby football, and there was some cracking goals. While the result was not a surprise (31 Win to city). City dominated possession, but it was united that scored the first goal with an amazing strike from Marcus Rashford. The Reds held strong until midway through the second half, but then another wonder strike from Phil Foden, turned the game. The end score line reflects their dominance in the match. City finished the weekend just one point behind league leaders Liverpool, so it will be a great game next weekend when they play each other in the other premiership match. Yesterday, Burnley lost at home 2-0 to Bournemouth and look in a very vulnerable position, at towards the bottom of the table.

Tonight there is one Premiership football match, Arsenal travel to Sheffield United 8pm kick-off.
