No Runners Tuesday!

Another quiet day for us here at Pond House with no runners today. In Britain, there is jumps action at Lingfield after passing it's inspection this morning and Newcastle, there is flat action this evening at Southwell. In Ireland, they have jumps racing at Thurles after they also passed their inspection this morning.

The Cheltenham Festival is fast approaching and is now just only a week away! Clerk of the course Jon Pullin, is usually in a muddle at this time of the run up to the festival whether to water the course or not, but this year due to the extremely wet weather we've had lately, he does not have that issue on his hands! He expects, the ground could be on the easier side for the festival after a drying week. Four from the last five festivals have started on soft, while the other was good to soft.

News on Constitution Hill’s blood results came back yesterday afternoon, unfortunately the Seven Barrows team have admitted defeat and he will not making an appearance at the Cheltenham Festival. He was due to defend his crown in the Champion Hurdle, but further results show that he will not recover in time this close to the festival. It is a shame to not get the chance to see the star as he has had limited outings already and it was one of the few races that the Irish may not have dominated! However, the horse must come first and if he is not at his upmost best, then we will have to wait a little longer to see the star in action. Constitution Hill wasn't the only blow to come to light yesterday, as Marine Nationale is also set to miss the festival this year after suffering a suspensory strain and will need at least 6 weeks rest to get right again. It's a fairly minor injury, but just annoying with the timing, but he will have plenty more good days out I'm sure!

Last night in the football, there was one Premiership match, which was Arsenal vs Sheffield United. Arsenal took to dominate the match early on and ended up scooping at 6-0 victory. Tonight in the football, there are 2 Champion League matches set to take place. Bayern Munich Vs Lazio and Real Sociedad Vs Paris Saint-Germain who are both scheduled to kick off at 8pm.
