Unanimite - Winner at Plumpton

Last week started well with a winner on Monday at Plumpton courtesy of Unanimite and Daryl Jacob.  It was great to get his head in front as it was his first win in just over two years.  He has contested some top races in the meantime, finishing a very close second in a hot handicap at Ascot as well as running okay in the Ladbroke and Holloway’s hurdles at the Berkshire track lasts season.  He had a few setbacks after he ran well at Musselburgh in February so I was delighted to get him back to winning ways the other day.  I am sure it will do his confidence to world of good, he goes on any ground and he is still only a five year old so hopefully there will be a bit more to come.

Cheltenham is just around the corner! You know that the jumps season is in full swing when you can say that and I am looking forward to their first meeting of the season on Friday and Saturday. It barely seems five minutes ago that we were all embroiled in the build-up and participation in the Cheltenham Festival in March...where on earth have the last seven months gone?! While it is their Open fixture in November where we traditionally click into top gear, I am hoping to have a few runners over the course of the two day fixture.

It is good to have the jump racing starting in earnest now and as soon as we have a bit of rain, we will have the winter horses for the forthcoming season ready to go. The trouble, as has been the case many times of late is that October is turning into an increasingly dry month. You may have noticed over the weekend a slightly different look to my website. The reason for this is the exciting news that Pond House has a new stable sponsor in the form of W&S Recycling who have signed a multi-year deal with us. A forward thinking and progressive company, I couldn’t be more pleased and we look forward to a long, successful and happy association. To find out more about W&S click on their banners either at the top or bottom of our website.

Although there was not an abundance of opportunities, it was still another good week for the stable with a couple of winners keeping the tally ticking along and the success of Moon Racer (pictured above) in the battle of the Champion Bumper winners making for an unexpected but enormously enjoyable spectacle for Perth racegoers and racing enthusiasts alike at this early stage of the season.

The good form of the stable was maintained last week with a couple of winners over jumps taking our seasonal tally to 21, while the long journey up to Scotland was made worthwhile with the flat success of the incredible Impulsive American who was notching his eighth victory since joining the Pond House team. With some high profile entries for the week ahead these are certainly exciting times, so to find out more read on…

Although it was a relatively quiet week on the racing front we still had plenty to keep us occupied with the small matter of our Owners’ Day to organise on Saturday followed by an assembly of local businessmen on Sunday. I am pleased to report that all went without a hitch, while we were also among the winners with the success of Iniciar (pictured above) at Worcester last Tuesday which extended our tenure at the top of the trainers’ table for another week.
