Holiday Time
It was quiet for us on the runner’s front last week but the few we did run all ran well. Last Quarter and Call Her Clever both finished fourth at Worcester in their respective races. Last Quarter is a quirky character and jockey Jack Tudor came back and said please can I have another go! The ability is there but it is a challenge to get the best out of him on the racecourse and so it was nice for Jack to come back feeling positive and wanting to try something different on him next time. Call Her Clever made a pleasing career debut to be a close fourth. She was a little green but galloped all the way through the line and we will run her again in another bumper in a few weeks’ time and I am sure she will improve for the experience. Micronormous ran her best race to date over hurdles at Fontwell on Wednesday, finishing a close third. Hopefully this will have given her some confidence to build on for next time.

Duc De Beauchene (leading) Winner Again
It was great get off the mark for the new season with Duc De Beauchene winning the Norfolk National at Fakenham last week. He raced very enthusiastically behind the leaders under Fergus Gillard throughout and stated on strongly at the end of the race to see out the trip really well on his first try over the marathon distance. He has been in rude health of late, winning at Wincanton, finishing second to a progressive rival at Kempton and then winning again off top weight the other day. He seems to have appreciated the better ground of late and will be kept on the go for now with some more long distance chases the main objective. While the handicapper will have his say tomorrow, while he remains in good heart there is more to come.

The new season got underway at Kempton last Monday, just 48 hours after the last one finished! Duc De Beauchene nearly got us off to a flyer, running a great race to be second. Off an eleven pound higher mark than he won off at Wincanton previously he put in another good display and galloped all the way through the line. He has come out of that race well and runs in the Norfolk National at Fakenham on Tuesday.

Thanksforthehelp: Our last winner of the Season!
The 2022-23 season came to an end at Sandown on Saturday and we had a great final week to the season with four winners across both codes to end with 74 winners and over £1 million in prize money. This is our best season in terms of numbers and prize money for some Time and while I shall reflect in greater depth about the whole season in due course it has been a fantastic season and something we can build on again going forwards.

Out of Action Following Fall
We are now entering the final week of the 2022/23 National Hunt season. It looks set to be a busy few days for the stable with several runners this week and it would be great to get another winner or two before the curtain comes down at Sandown on Saturday. We kick off with a flat runner at Windsor today and a runner over hurdles at Kempton this evening.

Duc De Beauchene - Our 71st Winner
Another week has flown by, another Sunday and another winner for the yard thanks to Duc De Beauchene winning at Wincanton under Jack Tudor. This was our veteran chasers first win of the season but it was a deserved victory after being placed on his last three starts. The handicapper has given him some help but Jack gave him a nice positive ride and he jumped, travelled and won a shade cosily in the end. There is a race for him up at Perth next week so he will get and entry there and he may head to Scotland for his next race.

Jack Tudor - New Stable Jockey
Last Thursday I announced that Jack Tudor would be riding as number me jockey at Pond House and it was fantastic to get the ‘monkey off our backs’ with our first winner together courtesy of Kepagge at Ffos Las on Sunday. This was in fact Jack’s fifth winner for me in total but the first of our new partnership. It is fair to say things have been a bit frustrating of late with regards to winners but we have been knocking on the door with lots of seconds and I was quite a relieved to get that win, our 70th of the season.
