Gericault Roque - Back in Training

We have not had many runners in the past week but there were good runs from Pepsiwithacap and Dindin to be fourth.  Bashful Boy was disappointing at Fontwell but he has had a terrific summer and I’m sure he can bounce back next time.  Bashful Boy, Oceanline and new recruit Wordsworth are all entered in the Cesarewitch at Newmarket on Saturday 14th October after entries closed last week.

This Week

We have entries most days this week and so are likely to have a few runners starting at Worcester tomorrow, Uttoxeter on Wednesday, Fontwell on Friday and Newton Abbot, Worcester again and Chelmsford at the weekend.  Keep checking the Daily News for more details of the stable runners.

Horses in Training

This is the third instalment of our horses in training feature we have been doing in recent weeks.  Going through the horses in alphabetical order I am pleased to introduce a few more of our equine team for the season ahead.

Gericault Roque

He ran a cracker to be third in the Coral Gold Cup Chase at Newbury in November but the ground was a little quick for him that day and he came home a bit jarred up. We have given him plenty of time with the dream of going to Aintree in April.   A return to Newbury for the Gold Cup Chase or to Aintree for the Becher Chase are likely targets in the first half of the season.

Hammer Dan

He finished second in his only start in an Irish point-to-point. Disappointing over hurdles to date but we know he is better than this on what he shows at home. He has had a nice long holiday and wind surgery and it will be disappointing if he is not progressive in handicap company this season.

Heure De Gloire

Heure De Gloire is the winner of three hurdle races including at Leicester last season. She wears her heart on her sleeve, is generally very consistent and will give a new little syndicate some fun.  We do have spaces available in the new two horse syndicate with Paricolor (winner of ten races) so please do get in touch for more information on a great way to be involved at Pond House at an affordable price.

Hory

Winner of a Fairyhouse Maiden hurdle in April 2022, he has had a few little niggles which have kept him off the track since. In training now and could be an interesting horse to follow later this season.

Iceo Madrik

He has some very useful staying chase form in France and we chucked him in the deep end running in the Ultima at the Cheltenham Festival. He loves testing conditions and after a summer break he has really settled into life in England and grown into his frame. He will be one for staying races on heavy ground this winter.

Israel Champ

Israel Champ was nearing a return to the racecourse when unfortunately picking up another little injury last season but we are keeping everything crossed for a smooth run this time around! The winner of two listed bumpers, he could start at over hurdles although there is a possibility that he will go straight over fences.  He is a very talented horses but also very fragile.

It Seems Like It

A gorgeous big four year old, son of Black Sam Bellamy, he finished third in his only start in an Irish point-to-point at Loughrea.  We did a bit with him before turning him away for the summer and liked what we saw. He is likely to start off in bumpers before going novice hurdling and is an exciting prospect.

Jamaico

Another exciting big four year old acquired from France this summer. He has had just four career starts to date, progressing each time and winning at Auteuil over fences on his latest start. A novice chaser for this season who has huge potential for this season and many years to come.

Jilaijone

Jiliajone was claimed by his owner from France and he won on stable debut at Fontwell. Continued to run well and be placed after that before his summer holiday. Not the biggest but extremely tough and genuine. He may head back to France shortly to run as he is quite well forward in his training.

Johannes

Johannes was the impressive winner of his only start in a flat race in the French provinces over 2 miles. He is a lovely, big and athletic three year old who we gelded and turned away to strengthen and mature. An exciting dual purpose horse, shares are available in him!
