There are just three meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps action from Leicester and Catterick as well as an all-weather flat card from Lingfield.  David has no runners today and Tom Scu takes the day off having made the journey north pay with a winner at Ayr yesterday aboard Kilbree Chief for Lucinda Russell.  It was a driving finish with Scu prevailing by a head and thus covering his petrol money. Kilbree Chief was winning the race for the second year.

I see that it is travelling head lad Craig Wylie's 47th birthday today.  Craig (pictured above in familiar pose) is like a Scottish version of Del Boy - he seems to be able to get his hands on anything you want as well as plenty of things that you don't want!  Anyway, happy birthday to one of racing's great characters...keep on truckin'.

Barry Geraghty has been thanking everyone for their well wishes following his weekend fall which will rule him out of the Cheltenham Festival.  He says that his lung is still being drained and his ribs are pretty sore...I don't like the bit about his lung.

I have been having a look at the ante-post markets for the Cheltenham Festival and I see that Paul Nicholls' stable jockey Sam Twiston-Davies nominates Politologue as his best chance of a winner.  Meanwhile David's shortest priced entry is Moon Racer who is a best-priced 9/2 for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle (although he also holds an engagement in the Champion Hurdle).  Ruby Walsh is 8/13 to be top jockey and Willie Mullins, despite his challenging season is 8/11 to be top trainer again.  The could be a couple of short-priced bets there to kick off with.

All the Leicester players should be ashamed of themselves - they looked like a completely different team last night as they beat Liverpool 3-1.  It just goes to show how the players can get a manager sacked.  Ranieri's family have a picture of them on Instagram with the hashtag 'traitors' and I have to say that I agree with them 100%.  Meanwhile Newcastle are 2/1 to beat Brighton tonight and Aston Villa are 23/20 to beat Bristol City - I will be having a little double on those two to give me an interest.

I was watching the latest press conference ahead of the David Haye versus Tony Bellew fight and I have come to the conclusion that Haye has lost the plot.  He was ranting like some mad man - if they had told them it was to be a bare fist fight, I think he would have agreed to it.  Let's just hope that the fight is as good as the talk!
