Quiet Monday

There are three meetings today, jumps cards at Southwell and Lingfield plus a flat card at Wolverhampton.  David does not have any runners but Tom Scu goes to Southwell for a couple of outside rides.  Grace Tara looks his best chance for brother Michael in the 3.30pm race.  Both Shotavodka and Taws finsihed third on Saturday.  Taws was third in a Listed contest at Doncaster and surely a win is not too far way.  Shotavodka was a good third in the Veterans chase at Newbury, Tom gave him a great ride and he came there looking like the winner just to get tired in the last half a furlong.  He should soon win off his present handicap mark.  Definitely Red won a good 3m2f handicap chase at Doncaster on Saturday, the Grimthorpe.  He has now been backed for the Grand National and I see he is now 20/1 with some of the firms.

You know I like to spot jockeys riding on track that you don't see riding there usually.  Brian Hughes is at Lingfield riding Skip in the 2.20pm for Kevin Ryan so I think you should keep an eye on this one!

It was good to see Deanos Beeno looking so good at Greatwood on the TV on Saturday and they also showed him winning, he was a bit of a character!

The Bellew/Haye fight on Saturday night was a cracker and lived up to all the pre-fight hype.  Bellew stopped Haye when his corner threw in the towel in the 11th round.  They looked like mates after the fight and Bellew even helped Haye back to his corner.  They are already talking about another fight, it is amazing what money does!

My football bet came up over the weekend with Leicester winning again and also Liverpool beating Arsenal.  I watched Spurs beat Everton and that man Kane was at it again.  I do wonder what Arsene Wenger was thinking starting without star man Alexis Sanchez.  They tell me Wenger has a two year contract on the table waiting to be signed.  If I was him I would sign it quickly as the fans want him out!  It is West Ham versus Chelsea, they bet 5/1 West Ham and its live on Sky tonight.
