There are just three meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Towcester and Wetherby and an all-weather flat fixture from Chelmsford City.  The ground at Towcester is currently good/firm and with the prevailing dry weather I can't see it getting any better so it is hardly surprising that there are only small fields filling their card.  Stable jockey Tom Scudamore and David Noonan both head their for one ride and they have fair prospects of making our theory work.  There are no runners from the stable this afternoon and with Good Friday tomorrow marking a blank jumping day, David's next runners will come at the weekend.  He will certainly have runners at Haydock who host a vauable card including the finals of the Challenger series.

Once again I find myself asking how can we get the younger generations to go horse racing.  Afterall, these are the punters/jockeys/governing bodies of tomorrow.  Every time I go racing I see the same old faces and that is part of the problem, racegoers are getting older and we need to halt this trend.  Free admission to under 18's (especially in the holidays) would seem a good place to start while we could probably do more to engage the younger generations through social media and the digital platforms.  We seem to be lacking some fresh perspective at present - do you have any bright ideas?

Leicester were beaten 1-0 by Atletico Madrid last night and were victims of a penalty that should never have been given.  The foul was committed outside the penalty area as was clearly shown on television.  The sooner we use replay technology to sort out this sort of mess, the better.  Meanwhile, Anderlecht take on Manchester United tonight in the Europa League quarter finals and you can get 19/20 about United.  I can't believe that I am about to say it, but that looks well worth an investment - a winning bet is a winning bet I suppose!

I see that former England cricketer and owner at Pond House Craig Kieswetter has decided to become a golf pro.  I have spoken with Craig, who played county cricket for Somerset and he is deadly serious about his new career.  Let's hope that he can make a go of it and hit the golf ball as hard as he hit a cricket ball!

Thought for the day...why is women's football so rare?  Have you ever tried finding eleven women to wear the same outfit?!
