David & David Redvers at a
             Local Point to Point

Today there are six meetings, flat cards at York, Newbury, Newmarket, Newcastle and Hamilton plus a jumps card at Aintree.  David has three runners at Aintree this evening, Dell'arca, Juste Pour Nous and Max Do Brazil.  Dell'arca runs in the 6.40pm 2m4f handicap hurdle.  He won last time out at Ascot on good ground which he seems to like and a similar run should put him in the picture.  Free Stone with just 10st 2lb could be the  big danger.  Just Pour Nous runs in the 7.10pm, 2m1f novice hurdle.  He finished third on his debut hurdle run last time at Kempton.  He pulled a bit hard that day so if he settle a little better hopefully he can be in the shake up.  Max Do Brazil has decent form in France but he is yet to show that in two runs in England.  Maybe the step up in trip tonight will help.

Many congratulations must go to David Redvers who rode his first winner at one of our local point to points, Cothelstone on Wednesday evening.  David went along for the evening and was able to enjoy a celebratory drink with the winning rider as pictured above.  David did have a horse in training many years ago at Pond House but is now racing manager for HH Sheikh Fahad Al Thani and also owns Tweenhills Stud in Gloucestershire.  David used to ride many years ago, retired but is back in the saddle as it was a lifelong ambition to ride a winner so it is great he was finally able to achieve it.

It is Yorkshire Cup day at York and Her Majesty the Queen has the favourite, Dartmouth.  He looks to have a great chance with the Stoute stable in such good form as well.  I see the Placepot at York yesterday paid £10,865.10.  When I normally get it up I usually just get my money back!

I cannot believe that former owner Peter Deal is 78 today.  He is the youngest looking 78 year old in the World!  Mind you is has a lovely wife that must keep him young!

I thought Leicester had a chance of beating Spurs last night but Spurs won 6-1 so I think I got that one wrong!  I love what Arsenal legend Tony Adams said about Arsene Wenger, "Wenger couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag!".  I am not a Wenger fan but I don't agree with Tony Adams on this one.

It is hard to believe but Exeter will have a match at Wembley.  They beat Carlisle 3-2, scoring in the fifth minute of added time.  They now play Blackpool in the play-off final.  Exeter got through 6-5 on aggregate and so did Blackpool.  I wonder what odds you would have got on those two aggregate scores?!

A horse is dangerous at both ends and uncomfortable in the middle!  Ian Fleming.
