This afternoon we have five meetings taking place, all on the flat with the action coming from Newcastle, Newmarket, Nottingham, Hamilton and Newbury.  With no jumps action today it is unsurprising that David has no runners.  Talking of flat racing, I see that Salisbury are to host a concert after their meeting on 15th July.  There has been all manner of debate about whether racing and live music really mix after the trouble at Newmarket's Little Mix gig last week but I don't think Salisbury are likely to face similar problems - they have a band called Coldplace - yes, I do have that right.  They are a tribute band to Coldplay - not quite the same!

Golden girl Michelle Payne will attend an enquiry tomorrow about her failed drug test and if found guilty, she could face a lengthy ban meaning that she could also miss out on a return trip to Britain for the Shergar Cup meeting at Ascot on 12th August.  Payne is the only female rider ever to win the Melbourne Cup and is a superstar in Australia at the moment.  A ban would mean that she would not even be able to ride track work.

Chile beat Portugal on penalties in the Confederations Cup football last night.  Goalkeeper Claudio Bravo saved all three penalties meaning that Christiano Ronaldo never even had the chance to take his spot kick.  Chile now play Germany or Mexico in Sunday's final.

Every time I look in one of the national newspapers there seems to be another lady tennis player without her clothes on!  Today it is Daniella Hantuchova's turn (not that I am complaining) - I now know where the expression 'love all' comes from!

I see that Sebastian Vettel may face further punishment  from the FIA for ramming into Lewis Hamilton at Sunday's Azerbaijan Grand Prix.  They are going to have another look at the incident and have the power to fine, impose a grid penalty or even ban the four time world champion.  He was punished during the race which cost him a certain victory - I'm not sure that it is right imposing further penalties.  In fairness, it looked more like Mrs Barnes driving!

The other day I saw this bloke chatting up a cheetah.  He's trying to pull a fast one I thought to myself!
