Gold Again?

      Purple N Gold runs at Uttoxeter

There are three meetings today, two jumps cards at Cartmel and Uttoxeter and a flat card at Windsor.  There is also a good flat card in Ireland at the Curragh with some Group races.  David has one runner, Purple N Gold in the 4.35pm at Uttoxeter and David Noonan rides.  It has some good prize money on offer and has attracted a competitive field of nine good horses.  Our eight year old is in good form and he won last time out at Fontwell.  I have a slight feeling that 2 miles is just on the sharp side for him these days but having said that he is a fantastic horse who has won 11 races in his career.  Hopefully he can run his usual honest race and be in the shake-up once again.

Tom Scu goes to Cartmel for a few rides today, the best of these looks to be The Wicket Chicken in the 2.50pm.  I don't think I would like to buy a second hand car off of Tom, York yesterday, Cartmel today - he does some miles!

When boxers retire why does it not mean retirement?!  Nigel Benn has told his son that he wants to fight again.  He is 53 and wants to get in the ring with Steve Collins.  I hope that he is not serious as I am sure it will all end in tears.  

Chile take on Germany in the Confederations Cup in Russia.  The Germans are 6/4 favourites and that looks of interest to me.

Andy Murray says he is going to play through the pain barrier to try to defend his Wimbledon title.  Surely you have got to be 100% fit and well to play tennis at this level.  I just hope he is really up to it and doesn't do himself any lasting damage.  The player in form is Roger Federer and Ladbrokes have him as favourte.  Novak Djokovic is not playing well lately and Andy has an injury so I think Federer is the one to win Wimbledon this year.

I saw a sign in a car park saying, "Thieves want your sat nav".  I thought well... they can get lost!!
