There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with three flat cards from Doncaster, Epsom and Chepstow, while there is a National Hunt fixture from Hexham.  The big race of the day (in terms of prize money at least is the two year old stakes at 3.35pm with £300,000 up for grabs - with that sort of pot it is hardly surprising that it has attracted a quality field of 22 runners.  The first home picks up a cool £147,540 but with so many youngsters racing over 6½f on soft ground, it might just be easier to buy a lottery ticket than try to back the winner!  The favourite is 9/2 chance Great Prospector and he will handle the ground - hardly original but he would be my selection.

I hope a few of you followed my lead and backed Brian Harding to win the Legends race at Donny yesterday.  Harding was probably the fittest jockey on show and made the difference for his followers.  Meanwhile, it was good to see a proper legend in Lester Piggott at the meeting - he looks just the same as he always did and I am sure he could have competed in the Leger Legends.

The three jockeys who were banned at Perth on Monday are going to appeal against the decision and I think they should get their penalties reduced.  There are plenty of jockeys who have done a lot worse yet received less severe penalties than these three.

Tottenham Hotspur beat Dortmund 3-1 last night at Wembley and striker Harry Kane was in great form, scoring a couple of times.  So much for not being as good at Wembley!  Perhaps they are getting used to it?  Arsenal take on Cologne tonight on BT Sport at 8.05pm.  Arsenal are 4/9 and look the most likely winner.  Everton are away to Atalanta - I don't fancy Everton's chances the way they have been playing of late.  Atalanta are 7/5 and that will give me an interest.

I see that Carlos Tevez was on the receiving end of a rocket from his new boss for being too fat.  I blame the club if they pay him £650,000 a week...just think how much food you can buy with that!  Mind you, he always looked as though he was carrying a few extra pounds when he was playing for West Ham.

I was in Tesco and I saw this man and woman wrapped up in a bar code...I said to them, "are you two an item?"  Keep smiling...
