There was a very good day at Exeter yesterday as not only did David enjoy a winner with You Say What, there was also the Gail Harrison A Lifetime In Racing handicap hurdle.  She picked out the best turned out (which went on to win the race) and presented the prize to the winning owners.  Afterwards David and Martin presented her with an award before compere Robert Bellamy set her a few posers.  When asked about who was the better to work for, Martin or David, she replied "they are as bad as each other!"  I'm sure she meant as good as...Anyway, the day was completed when You Say What ran out a ready winner of the staying chase from a mark of 114.  He jumped well and looked the likeliest winner from some way out.  Mister Drifter finished sixth in the staying hurdle, weakening only after the last and can be winning before too long.

I had to laugh when Bryony Frost won the Clydesdale's race and promptly did a flying dismount a la Frankie Dettori!  It looked like a long way up to me and I'm not sure Frankie would have jumped from such a height - she is clearly as barmy as her brother!

There looked to be a star in the making over at Navan yesterday when Samcro won the Grade 3 novices' hurdle with any amount in hand and he is going to be very difficult to beat wherever he turns out.

With the abandonment of Ayr there are just two meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Ludlow and Kempton.  David has two runners at the former with The Draconian contesting the maiden hurdle at 12.35pm and Bambi du Noyer in the handicap hurdle at 2.45pm.  The Draconian did hint at ability before his lay-off when third in an Exeter bumper on good/firm ground, although it may be that he will want better ground than he is going to get today.  Bambi du Noyer should handle this surface and he was a good winner at Exeter three starts ago but has taken a hike in the weights as a result and would need to recapture his best to land this.

England's dismal run at the Gabba continued yesterday when England were well beaten by the Aussies.  I have probably given our side too much credit - they looked absolutely useless.  I can see the home side winning every test and there looks to be real trouble in the England camp with Johnny Bairstow being quizzed over claims that he head butted and Aussie player.  There is enough trouble on the pitch without that happening.

Thought for the day...Are zebras horses that just escaped from prison?!  Keep smiling...
