The good form of the yard continued yesterday at Wincanton when Daklondike ran out a ready winner of the 3m1f handicap chase under Tom Scudamore.  This was a good performance under 12-1 and our five year old half-brother to Great Endeavour looks as though he can improve further and hopefully win in a higher grade.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Sandown, Exeter and Sedgefield, while there is also an all-weather flat fixture from Chelmsford City.  David has plenty of runners at Exeter today with Warthog, Timeforben, Max do Brazil, You Say What, Eur Gone West and Grand Rigel all representing the stable.  Make sure you wrap up warm if you are thinking of visiting the course up on Haldon Hill - there has been a sprinkling of sleety snow overnight and it is going to be cold.

Warthog and Timeforben run in the novices' hurdle at 1.00pm.  The former was a facile Irish point-to-point winner on soft ground and he has shown good form in bumpers in this country.  He looks to hold sound claims under Tom Scudamore.  Timeforben was also an Irish point winner and also showed ability in bumpers and hurdles before disappointing last time - she needs to improve on that under Michael Heard.

Max do Brazil goes in the 2m5½f handicap hurdle at 1.35pm.  He has won twice in France showing a good level of form, although he is yet to show anything in this country.  He is clearly better than he has been able to show thus far so it is far too early to write off his chance.

You Say What contests the handicap chase at 3.15pm which is run over the marathon trip of 3m6½f.  On such a stiff track on testing going, it is certainly going to take some getting.  Fortunately You Say What is blessed with stamina in abundance and was a course winner last time.  This is tougher under a 7lbs penalty, but he is due to go up by a further 3lbs in future handicaps so he is theoretically well-in.  He should go close.

We have two in the bumper; Eur Gone West who showed ability when placed in an Irish point and Grand Rigel who makes his racecourse debut this afternoon.  Eur Gone West has the benefit of previous outings and should go well, while Grand Rigel goes nicely at home but will learn plenty for the experience.

What a recovery from young Jack Kennedy over in Ireland yesterday.  He was out of the saddle with both feet out of the irons and his legs around one side of his mount.  Despite that, he managed to keep the partnership intact and even went on to win the race at Clonmel.  "I didn't fancy getting galloped on" he said - as good a reason as any I suppose!  It was a great recovery.

I see that Newcastle owner Mike Ashley was in talks with potential owner Amanda Staveley in a London curry house.  I wonder if they had a vindaloo? That would certainly have heated talks up.  Ashley wants £400 million for the club - I think she would want more than a vindaloo to pay that sort of money!  Perhaps the sale of the club is to pay the shortfall in wages to the staff of Sports Direct?!

Meanwhile, Arsenal won 6-0 at home to Bate Borisou and Everton won 3-0 away to Limassol (even without their manager, Big Sam Allardyce who wan't present).
