Following the abandonment of Lingfield's National Hunt fixture, there are just two meetings taking place this afternoon with a jumps card from Fakenham and an all-weather flat card from Wolverhampton.  There are no runners from Pond House this afternoon but I see that David Noonan is going to Fakenham for just one ride.  It is a 50/1 chance and has pulled up on it's last two starts so I don't think I will be employing the 'one ride theory'.  It just goes to show, if you want rides you have to be prepared to travel.

I know that it is called 'all-weather racing' but I was watching the action from Chelmsford City yesterday and I have to say that the racecourse team did well to get the meeting to go ahead.  There looked to be a lot of snow about and they did a good to get it all shifted.

I have to say that I was pleased for our old mate Gino who puts me and David up for the course of the Grand National meeting at Aintree every year.  He owns a part of The New One who landed his fourth successive Champion Hurdle Trial at Haydock on Saturday.  He looked to be in trouble but battled back in tenacious fashion to lead close home.  As you can imagine, there are a few pictures about his house of his pride and joy!

Watford have taken the dramatic step of sacking their manager Marco Silva despite being 10th in the Premier League.  However, if you take the results of their last ten games , they would be bottom of the table.  Javi Gracia takes over as manager and it looks like a tough job.  I reckon a lot of these team's owners think they are better than they are...just remaining in the top flight is a big achievement.

I was watching the match between Everton and West Brom at the weekend and saw James McCarthy get a broken leg.  Baggies striker Salomon Rondon knew straight away that it was a bad one and was in tears, mind you, it was an accidental collision and the player undergoes surgery today.

What a performance from Tommy Fleetwood to retain the Abu Dhabi title, shooting 30 on the back nine holes.  His success earned him £360,000 and looks like he could break into the world's top ten.  A year ago he was ranked 188th in the world...that is some improvement.

In my house I am the boss...Mrs Barnes is just the decision maker!  A story that is replicated up and down the country I am sure.
