Today there is just the one meeting on the fibre sand at Southwell.  Let's hope it gets the go-ahed.  It would be a terrible day in England with no racing!  People who go in the betting shops for a Sunday wager will have to play on the machines or bet on the make believe racing on the screens!  The place to be for racing is Abu Dhabi - they have no problem with the snow!

If you are in a pub in London called the Claddagh Ring tomorrow don't be surprised to see trainer Alan King in there!  No, it is not his local but he is doing a Cheltenham Preview night!  They seem to have these Preview nights everywhere these days.  David has two penciled in this week.  He is at Exeter racecourse on Tuesday evening at then Tauntno racecourse on Friday evening.  I know there are still tickets available for Friday and you can get in touch with the office for more information.

I know that all the point to point meetings were wiped out across the country this weekend which was not surprising.  Most of these tracks seem to be in very remote places so they didn't stand much chance.  i think it was a similar story for Irish point to pointing although I believe lots of meetings are trying to reschedule on both sides of the Irish Sea.  Irish point to point winners seem to make so much more money than English ones.  It seems to me that a lot of English pointers are ex under rules horses where as the Irish horses are young ones just starting out in their career.  I have now answered my own question and although I realise this is a broad generalization and there are exceptions to the rule it does seem to be the case.

There is such a buzz with the Cheltenham Festival just around the corner.  David has his usual marquee for the four days of the Festival.  There is always a great atmosphere in the marquee and we see lots of friends who have been cmoing for years and plenty of new ones to!  It is sold out everyday with just a few places remaining on the Thursday so James tells me!  We have daily competitions and a prizes on offer for the best tipsters!  My Irish mate has backed a couple at big prices at Cheltenham.  He has backed a horse called Sort It Out in the Pertemps Final at 20/1 each way and Le Richebourg in the County hurdle at 33/1.

I've just finished building Rome with my nephews lego...it took me a day!
