It's a shame that the biggest stories centering around British racing at present is the number of punch-up's at the racecourses. I know that there are sniffer dogs on some of the tracks now, although I am not quite sure of their value. As I see it, the biggest problem is the number of drinks these idiots are consuming. Furthermore, most of them are wearing suits and look completely normal until they are blind drunk. I tend to agree with snooker and boxing supremo Barry Hearn, who says that more money needs to be spent on security and there should be less tolerance - the moment there is any sign of trouble, they should be ejected from the course. Most of them aren't there for the racing anyway, just a good booze-up.
There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with a flat card from Ripon and two jumps fixtures from Market Rasen and Stratford. Stable jockey Tom Scudamore heads to Stratford where he has picked up four outside mounts, a couple of which look to have sound chances.
When I moved to Brixham, a small fishing town in South Devon there were no less than five betting shops. It seemed a little excessive and it is hardly surprising that only one survives today. Even so, when the new £2 limit on the FOBT's comes in, I reckon this one will follow the other four. While I don't condone these roulette machines, it will be a shame when the betting shops are gone. It seems that everybody does their gambling online these days. I still remember the times before the pictures were beamed into the shops and you had to listen on the loud speakers...happy days.

There are only 25 days to go until the start of the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia. I hope they have their security sorted out. It seems that a lot of the fans from other countries only go along to fight with other nations, it's a sad state of affairs.
