It was a good day for the yard yesterday when Bathwick Man landed the handicap hurdle in the hands of Conor O'Farrell at Newton Abbot.  It was a change in tactics from the usual front running role and it seemed to suit him well, coming home six lengths clear of his rivals.  It is great to have a winner for stable sponsors Wayne and Sarah Clifford who put so much into our sport.

Star Of Germany also put in a better performance when finishing third in the concluding handicap chase.  He did set out to make the running but stayed on well enough once headed to finish third, well clear of the remainder.  He is coming down the weights, but looks as though he could do with some further assistance from the assessor.

What a great performance from England to turn the second Test around against the Indians following a disappointing first day.  The England batsmen really came alive in the second innings with big scores from most of the order to notch 544, before England's best bowler Stuart Broad weighed in with six wickets to skittle out the Indians and secure an impressive 319 run victory.  Almost unbelievably, England are now long odds-on to become the world's number one Test match side - now who would have thought that a few years ago?!
