The stable has one runner at Bangor this afternoon as the unbeaten Too Generous makes her hurdling debut in the 2m4f mares' novices' hurdle at 4.20pm. The saying goes that you have to be decent to win more than one bumper and our four year old filly has done just that, showing a willing attitude in her races and she receives weight from the previous winners this afternoon. It looks to be an interesting little race and we would appear to have decent claims. There are three other meetings taking place today, all on the flat at Warick, Southwell and Wolverhampton.

It looks as though I am going to be proved right for a change! I said several months ago that Richard Hughes was my idea of the flat jockeys' champion and with just over a month left of the season, it will take a miracle for someone to peg back his 45 winner lead. That view is obviously shared by my bookmaker who has already paid out on the result. It is just as well the title is decided upon winners ridden and not prizemoney as if it was the other way, he would only be fifth! I still think that both trainers' and jockeys' championships should be decided by the number of winners trained/ridden.
What a result for Frankie Dettori! The Italian looked to be without a ride in the Arc on Sunday for the first time in 25 years, and then he gets the call-up for likely favourite Camelot! Young Joseph O'Brien apparently cannot do 8-11and this will be Frankie's first ride for Ballydoyle for seven years...I wonder if this is a sign of things to come? I am only specultating, but could Frankie be on his way out of the door at Godolphin? - there has traditionally been a great rivalry between Ballydoyle and Godolphin...

I see that the England cricket selectors have let Kevin Pietersen back in the fray. I think that KP would be the first to admit that he has been a bit of an idiot but he has said he is sorry and we certainly need him as our batting line-up looks very suspect without him. If he doesn't perform on the pitch they don't have to select him again, afterall they have him on a very short contract. Let's just get past it now and move on in England's best interest.

Finally I have to issue an apology for an error in yesterday's story whereby I claimed that Celtic football manager Neil Lennon was Scottish. I would like to point out that Lennon is in fact from Northern Ireland and not as reported...I was never very good at school and I'm clearly no better at geography now than I was back then!
