It looks like being another good day to be sat in front of the telly (for a change!)...it's miserable outside and there is some top quality racing being televised from Newmarket and York on the flat, plus a non-televised all-weather card at Wolverhampton and jumps cards at Chepstow and Hexham over jumps.  The stable has four runners in the Cesarewitch at 3.35pm at Newmarket this afternoon, Ashbrittle (D Cannon), Beyond (C Hoban), Martial Law (K O'Neill) and Decoy (Hayley Turner).  With thirty six runners it is bound to be a bit of a cavalry charge, even though they have the marathon trip of 2m2f to contend with.  David has filled the frame twice in recent years with Mamlook and he will be looking to emulate his dad who won it with Miss Fara and Heros Fatal.  Whoever wins today, they will certainly need to have found a bit of luck in running.

There are seven races on the card at flat racing's headquarters this afternoon and six of them are Group contests (the odd one out being the Ces), while the National Hunt meeting at Chepstow has attracted some good quality jumpers including top class novice hurdler Fingal Bay who makes his chasing debut this afternoon.

England duly beat the lowly San Marino team 5-0 last night although you could say that it was a disappointing display of shooting from the English.  I am not sure that San Marino should even be playing at this level, perhaps they would be more at home in a group with the Isle Of Wight, Isle Of Sheppy and maybe the Isle of Dogs!  They are nowhere near International level and we probably made them look better than they are.  Theo Walcott was carted off to hospital after being clattered by the goalkeeper who should have been given a red card.

I will be having a sneaky bet on Crawley to beat Bury at 7/10 and will be putting them in a treble with Sheffield United to beat Oldham at 4/6 and Fleetwood to beat Wycombe, also at 4/6.

Audley Harrison says that he is going to retire from boxing once and for all if he loses to David Price.  Price is 1/8 to win and 1/4 to knock Harrison out and into retirement.
