Weekend Jottings!

Following all the drama of yesterday's action, today there are just two meetings on the flat at Goodwood and over the sticks at Ffos Las and the stable does not have any runners.  Both courses are giving their ground as soft which will be fine for the jumpers, but the boys on the flat could struggle to get home in the testing conditions.

Can you believe that 94 year old Sir Peter O'Sullevan drove himself on the 260 mile trip from London to Paris?  I am not sure many 94 year old's could drive that sort of distance.  Unfortunately the legendary commentator fell over while he was there and ended up in a Paris hospital.  He was £400 out of pocket before he had even reached the racecourse.

What about golfer Justin Rose?  He has won over $3 million in the last month!  Justin has a good all round game and now he has a very good bank balance.  I once met him in Paignton when he made a presentation to my son Lester when he was a junior golfer...he seems like a nice bloke and I bet he will have no end of friends now!

I see that Paulo di Canio says he would love the England football managers job.  He would certainly liven things up a bit!  Can you imagine him running up and down the touchline?  I wonder how he would get on with the FA?!

It absolutely baffles me how disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong could take all those drugs and never fail a drugs test.  From what I have heard about it, it sounds like most of the competitors were at it.  Was the governing body incompetent or did they just turn a blind eye - the competitors must have used some amazing sort of masking agent otherwise!
