It looks like being a bit of a quiet day with just three flat meetings taking place at Windsor, Salisbury and Musselburgh and the ground looks like it is going to be pretty testing at each track. There was some decent action yesterday at Ffos Las and you have to ask, how good was A P McCoy? I am not convinced that any other jockey could have won aboard Very Stylish or American Legend - he was a man inspired yesterday. While we are on the subject of yesterday's action, one to keep an eye on appears to be Keppols Hill - he would certainly have won had he jumped the last...he really clattered it and in the end was only beaten a short head. He looks like a winner waiting to happen.

Over on the gallops I managed to get a picture of Poole Master, a high class novice hurdler from last season who was working in company with High Ville (a new recruit to the yard who has finished runner-up in a couple of bumpers), while I also managed to capture another couple of recent additions that are yet to make their debuts for Pond House - Oddjob and Basil Fawlty (fortunately this Basil Fawlty doesn't have a funny walk!).

What about good old Audley Harrison getting knocked out in 82 seconds? He must be the worst ever Olypic boxing champion - I did chuckle at one of the newspapers that asked, "Why criticise Audley? At least he never hurt anyone!". Audley said that it might be time to hang up his boots - if he can continue to get mugs to pay to watch him fight, why not carry on?!

Heather Watson produced a fantastic performance to become the first British lady to win a singles tennis title in twenty four years, so the millions of pounds that the Lawn Tennis Association have ploughed into the sport, coaches and facilities is finally paying off. Mind you, she isn't English - she comes from the Channel Islands, while US Open mens' champion Andy Murray is Scottish. They are only British when they win!

What a great win for Irishman Shane Lowry to win the Portugese Masters golf at the weekend. He looks to be a really colourful character and I wouldn't mind betting that there were a few pints of Guiness downed last night!
