It was a good weekend for the yard when our only runner at Cheltenham on Saturday obliged. His Excellency took the competitive looking novices' chase under Tom Scudamore and he looks like a very nice prosect for the stable. This was his third chase success of the season (following two in Ireland over the summer) and he looks as though he will be able to add to that. Our runners at Kempton yesterday also performed creditably with My Brother Sylvest finishing a close third on his chasing debut. I think when the ground dries out he should be capable of winning again.
There are three meetings on this afternoon with two on the flat at Pontefract and Windsor as well as a jumps card at Plumpton and the stable does not have any runners today.
What a performance from Frankel at Ascot on Saturday! He won well despite falling out of the stalls and racing on ground that wouldn't have suited him. When Willie Carson (who afterall has ridden a few decent horses down the years!) says that he is the greatest of all time you have to take notice. I agree with the cackling Scot - I don't think we will ever see Frankel's like again.

Although it was not altogether a surprise considering his reduced role within the Godolphin camp, it will still be strange to see Frankie Dettori riding freelance next season following the mutual decision to end his retainer as Sheikh Mohammed's first jockey after eighteen years. It did look to be on the cards when he rode Camelot in the Arc for the Coolmore set-up. I am sure the ever popular Italian will pick up plenty of good rides next season and maybe when young Joseph O'Brien gets too heavy we could see Frankie performing flying dismounts on the other side of the Irish Sea?

I see that a 21 year old has been arrested for attacking goalkeeper Chris Kirkland during the Leeds versus Sheffield Wednesday game last week. There were over 20,000 witnesses so I don't know how he possibly thought he would get away with it! As far as I'm concerned you can't go around acting like that - there is no trial necessary, just bang him up for five years...having said that, he will probably just be given a slap on the wrist and told not to run onto the pitch again! I reckon the Barnes Court of Law would resemble Hanging Judge Jeffries!
