Royal Mile
It was a great weekend for the yard with three winners on Saturday and two more yesterday. Royal Mile won at Chepstow over three miles on his Pond House debut. He won off of a rating of 76 and looked to win with a bit in hand. Young Kieron Edgar gave our eight year old a great ride and this was his first success for his boss David. Kieron was champion novice point to point rider in the Devon and Cornwall area last season and that was his second career winner under rules, the first coming in a bumper at Exeter last season. He is a nice rider and is sure to ride plenty more winners in the future. Royal Mile is entered at Wetherby on Friday and he could well run with a penalty as it will be interesting to see what the handicapper does to him.
Gevrey Chambertin Tanerko Emery
Up at Aintree Gevrey Chambertin made a winning start to his hurdles career. With six hurdles being omitted due to low sun it wasn't really a hurdle race in fact and it is great he still won as this would not really have suited our four year old. He stayed on well and looks useful. It looks like the second horse, Many Clouds is another to keep on the right side of as he looks to be a surefire winner next time. It was great to have an across the card treble on Saturday and another stable debutant Tanerko Emery got a fine ride from Conor O'Farrell to win the maiden hurdle at Stratford.
Meanwhile on the flat at Newbury Kingsbarns won the Group 1 after winning a maiden on his previous run. Mind you Aidan O'Brien has done that before but I guess he has plenty of good horses to work weith at home so he knows where all his horses stand and how good they are.
On Sunday it was another good day for Pond House. Bathwick Man does just not know how to run a bad race and he finished a good third in the handicap hurdle and Franklin Roosevelt was also third on his stable debut. Weekend Millionair won a novice hurdle under a fine ride from another of our talented conditionals, Tom Bellamy. Tom produced our five year old at the last hurdle and he won with his ears pricked. He now longer qualifies for novice hurdle so will be going down the handicap route for the rest of the season but he is one to really look forward to over the winter months. Up at Aintree we had another winner as Broadway Buffalo won the concluding bumper for Tom Scudamore. This was a great performance by our four year old who has made it two from two and gave weight away to a good looking field. It was a terrific weekend for Pond House and I am pleased to report that all our runners are fine from the weekend and we can look forward to some more runners throughout the week.
David has two runners at Bangor this afternoon. Investissement and Molly Oscar are both going to be ridden by Tom Scudamore and the both have small chances in competitive races. There are also two flat meetings on today at Leicester and Redcar. I am actually off the Newmarket sales with David and MCP to see if we can buy some potential hurdlers off the flat. If anyone is interested in having a horse please give to office a ring on 01884 840715 as we would be delighted to hear from you. Have a nice day.
