                 Wings of Icarus

Today there are four meetings, one on the flat at Doncaster and three over the sticks at Sandown, Wincanton and Kelso.  David has one runner at Sandown and two at Wincanton.  There are two good races at Wincanton, the Elite hurdle worth £57,500 and the Badger Ales handicap chase worth £60,000.  Tamarinbleu and The Package are the stable representatives in the chase but both races have attracted a good class of runners.  Tamarinbleu is an old stable favourite and ran some good races last season. Young Tom Bellamy takes a valuable seven pounds off his back and he has been working well at home.  The Package is nine years old but has not had many races and just had the one run last season when he was a good fourth at the Cheltenham Festival.  Timmy Murphy rides and both of our runners have good each way chances.  Wings of Icarus is a sole runner at Sandown.  He is making his seasonal reappearance in a competitive conditional jockey's handicap hurdle with Kieron Edgar in the saddle.  Our five year old was a bumper winner last season and had a couple of runs over hurdles but it is quite a tough race this afternoon.  David has four runners tomorrow, two at Ffos Las and two at Market Rasen so check back here for more news in the morning.

I was watching a race at Fontwell yesterday and in one race a horse called Young Hurricane got very close to the second horse Potrait Emotion on the run in.  I thought the stewards were certain to call an inquiry but they did not.  In the end the jockey on the runner up, Joshua Moore had to make an objection but Young Hurricane kept the race.  I just thought the stweards must have been asleep not to call an inquiry!

MCP has got his 10 to follow in the Racing Post today.  If you don't buy a Post, these are his selections - Big Bucks, Dynaste, Flemenstar, For Non Stop, Grands Crus, Grumeti, Quevega, Simonsig, Sir Des Champs and Sprinter Sacre.  Imagine training these 10 selections and remember MCP did win the competition a couple of years ago!

I have had a few quid on Darlan at 5/1 for the Racing Post handicap hurdle on 18th November at Cheltenham.  I am told he is likely to go off shorter than this so he might be worth a little bet if you are interested.

I see that Eric Alston is going into the jungle for ITV's I'm a Celebrity Get me Out of Here.  He was not called the craftty cockney for nothing.  I thought he could take a dart board into the jungle to stop him getting bored!

My football bets for today are Newcastle at evens, Arsenal at 4/7 and Yeovil 19/20.  Have a nice day!
