Following the abandonment of Fontwell and Wetherby over jumps, we are left with three all-weather flat cards at Lingfield, Wolverhampton and Kempton today. Talking of the all-weather it was a bit of a shocker to learn that Southwell will not be racing again this year due to water damage following the floods. I saw a picture of the track and it does more closely resemble a fishing lake than a racecourse (a similar comment also applies to Worcester). That damage means that Southwell will be losing their next ten fixtures and that scale of abandonment is a serious matter for any track. Worcester are suffering because the River Severn burst it's banks and flooded the track...will it ever stop raining?! Fortunately for us, despite the adverse conditions the horses have not missed any work due to our great all-weather gallop (pictured above).
I thought that young Sam Twiston-Davies gave Seedsman an absolutely fantastic ride to win at Lingfield yesterday afternoon to beat A P McCoy in a driving finish from the last. Surely there can be no satisfying outcome for a jockey than to beat the champ in a close one! Sam went on to complete a double on Seedsman's half-brother, Seedling in the bumper so a good day for the mother, Unseeded. A couple of the races at the track yesterday were over forty seconds slower than the standard time so that just goes to show how testing the ground was.

QPR managed to get a point against Sunderland last night, mind you I do think they need to be beating out of form teams like Sunderland if they are to have any chance of staying in the Premiership. I have to admit, it looks like 'Arry has the most difficult job he has ever had to keep this team from the drop.

I was amused to see the headlines in the papers about the England cricket team. "Broad Crisis As He Faces England Axe". It's not Stuart Broad, it is the wickets that are only suited to spinners. How many wickets have the other fast bowlers been taking?!

I went to see the new James Bond film Skyfall last night in the cinema with my wife. The first fifteen minutes of the film are dedicated to a really rough car chase - it reminded me of being driven up the gallops by MCP...all of our owners will know what I mean! Mind you, it was a good film even though my wife did wear ear plugs - I don't know whether it was because the film was so loud, or so that she couldn't hear my whingeing!
