There are three meetings taking place today after Musselburgh survived an early morning inspection ahead of their jumps card.  There is also action for National Hunt fans at Fakenham, while Lingfield host an all-weather flat card.  The stable has no runners today.  It was a good weekend for the yard though with a whole host of horses running well and Sona Sasta making a winning seasonal reappearance on the really testing ground at Chepstow on Saturday under amateur Mikey Ennis.  It is good to see the stable continuing in good form.

Swing Bill ran a cracker to finish fourth, little over two lengths behind the winner in the Becher Chase over the Grand National fences at Aintree - jumping like the old hand that he is under Conor O'Farrell.  Amigo wasn't beaten at all far into third in a Pertemps Qualifier at Sandown on his first start for the yard under Hadden Frost and looks to be well capable of winning before too long, while His Excellency picked up some decent prize money when finishing fifth faced with a very difficult task in the Tingle Creek.

There was an excellent football match on yesterday as Manchester United beat Manchester City in a huge local derby.  City looked to be the better team although United prevailed 3-2.  The match was spoiled to a certain degree by some idiot throwing a coin and hitting Rio Ferdinand just above the eye.  People standing near the yob must know who was responsible, so why don't they just give him up to the police?  Just think how serious it could have been if he was hit directly in the eye.  In fairness, Ferdinand took it in good part and was even joking about it only being a two pence piece on Twitter.  I do wonder why manager Mancini continues to play Balotelli...he is not a team player and is useless to boot!  Tevez should be starting every game - if City would like to employ my services as consultant, they can contact me via the yard!

What a fight between legendary boxers Manny Pacquiano and Juan Marquez, with Marquez stopping his opponent in the sixth round.  It was a brutal six rounds of boxing.

I was saddened to see that Sir Patrick Moore passed away at the age of 89 yesterday.  When I played table tennis at the Pontins holiday camps I used to see Patrick riding around on his bike near the camp at Broadreeds in Sussex near Selsey Bill.  Even the bike looked eccentric!
